Time Stamp Error
This is by far the most common error that our users face. If you are running the bot and if you have passed the following checks and your bot is still not working, time stamp error is the most likely reason.
- You are using the right platform with the right pair. ByBit inverse symbol is BTCUSD, ByBit USDT contracts symbol is BTCUSDT which is same for Binance.
- You are using the right contract amount for the traded pair. Inverse contract minimum size is 1 contract while USDT contracts are 0.001 BTC contracts.
- You started the bot and the cooldown period and interval time passed but yet it is still not placing orders? Most likely, this is a timestamp issue. Let’s fix it.
This error can occur for a number of reasons. If your bot is working but not placing any trades due to this error, then something is causing a slower than optimal connection and messages aren’t being received within the allowed time.
Reasons
1- Check your system resources aren’t being maxed out by HFT Research bots or other programs
2- The exchange may be experiencing issues. However, it is usually the least likely scenario.
3- Your machine’s time is different than the exchange’s time.
4- You are having connection issues. Usually it solves itself.
Solution
If your system resources are maxed out which is often the case if you are using a VM or a VPS, then please create a new server or add more resources so the bots can run optimally.
Otherwise, you need to sync your time with the exchange and the internet. In order to do that please do the following steps
Go to settings > click “Date and Time” > hit “Internet Time Settings” > then check the box next to “synchronize with an internet time server” > choose “time.nist.gov” and click update and okay.
Alternatively, you can further ensure to avoid the error, you can download timesynctool that will automatically sync your time with the internet at a set interval. Download here
